7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Sud region of sourthern Haiti at Saturday 14th Aug 2021. As per CNN, death toll had risen to over 1,200 and atleast 5,700 other were likely injured in the crumbling of buildings.
Location of Earthquake – The United States Geological Survey marked the epicenter of the quake about 129 km to the southwest of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, with a depth of around 10 km.
Earlier a 7.0 magnitude quake in January 2010 left much of Port-au-Prince and nearby cities in ruins, killing more than 2,00,000.
