ONGC Graduate Trainee Exam Syllabus
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) of India has issued a notification, looking for Graduate Trainee Executives. The Graduate Trainee Disciplines are Geology, Geophysics, Chemistry, Production, Drilling, Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Civil, Finance, HR etc.
ONGC Graduate Trainee Exam syllabus:-
The recruitment will be done on the basis of a written test. It is an objective exam of three hours duration. The test comprises of the following sections:
Subject related knowledge
General awareness
General aptitude
Subject related knowledge
In this section, you will be asked questions related to the subject you chose at the time of application. The level of questions is of graduate standard. Thus, you can expect questions related to the concepts you have studied in college. Focus on application based concepts rather than theoretical concepts for this section.
General Awareness:-
This section has questions on general topography, history, and economy of India. Questions may also be asked about famous personalities of India, and current events.
General Aptitude:-
The general aptitude section has questions related to the following fields:
Reading Comprehension- This tests your basis comprehension skills. An unseen passage will be given to you and you will be asked questions based on the unseen passage.
Quantitative aptitude- This tests your general mathematical abilities. Some common questions in this section include Time & Distance, Time & Work, Boat & Stream, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Mixture, Average, Profit & Loss, Chain Rule.
Data interpretation- This section tests your ability to make sense of data. You can expect Bar Diagram, Line Graphs, Pie-Charts, Tabulation & Frequency Chart and Venn Diagram based questions here.
For preparation of Data Interpretation you must prepare three chapters thoroughly which are given below-
Percentage
Ratio & Proportion
Average
Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning- This has reasoning problems that test your reasoning abilities.
Exam pattern:-
It is an objective exam. There are multiple choice questions, with each question having four choices. Only one of these choices is correct. There are 80 questions in the subject knowledge section, with each question carrying one mark each. There are 40 questions in the general awareness section, with each question carrying one mark. There are 30 questions in the general aptitude section, with each question carrying one mark.
There is no negative marking involved.
Interview-
If you clear the written test, you will be called for a personal interview. The interview has a weightage of 15 marks. Final selection will be made based on your combined score of the written test and the interview.
