Himachal Pradesh Forensic Science Laboratory Scientific Officer Digital Forensics Syllabus

Unit- I
General Forensic Science – Definition, Hisotry and Development of Forensic Science, Principles and scope of Forensic Science, Crime Scene Management, Type of Evidence, Chain of Custody, Integrity of Evidence, Report writing, Expert testimony and related laws, Concept of Quality Management system, Laboratory Information Management Systems, Research Methodology, Plagiarism, Ethics.
Unit-II
(A) Architecture of computational devices, History and Development of computers and its peripheral devices, and other electronic gadgets, Memory and its types, knowledge of windows, Linux, Macintosh operating systems, concept of file system, Network components-routers and switches, write blockers, Basics of encryption, IP address and mac address.
(B) Search and seizure of digital evidences, live data acquisition, knowledge of DD, Raw E01 imaging system, knowledge of disk cloning, concept of Hash value, ditigal signatures, recovery tools and the knowledge about Forensic software for the analysis, digital evidences in computer, mobile phone, CCTVs, Digital camera etc.
(C) Cyber crime and its types, Internal and external attacks, detection of financial frauds, knowledge of dark web, network threat and vulnerability, Cloud technology.
(D) Knowledge about IT Act and other international laws on digital crime investigation and prosecution.

Note – From Unit I & I total 80 questions for 80 marks.

Unit III
Ten questions consisting of General knowledge pertaining to state of Himachal Pradesh.
Ten questions consisting of General Knowledge of National & International affairs.

Note – From Unit III total 20 questions for 20 marks.
Duration – Total 100 questions and duration will be two hour.
