About DFRL Mysore – Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL), under the aegis of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India is engaged in the R&D activities with an objective to cater to the food requirements of the Armed Forces deployed at extreme environmental conditions. The main focus of the laboratory is in carrying out cutting edge technology in the field of Food Science and Technology which comprises research work in the areas of development of long shelf life ready to eat convenience foods, preservation of foods using various processing techniques, development and evaluation of food packaging materials, analysis and development of test kits for the detection of food spoilage and development of various functional, performance enhancing and stress reliving foods based on natural plant materials. The laboratory is well equipped with the state of the art analytical and other infrastructural facilities.
